Comfortable equestrian haven

The highly-regarded architectural company One 17 Design invited us to their offices to discuss a large stable block for a client whose property they were renovating.

The design was striking – L-shaped with a hipped roof and a drive-through section of the frame allowing access to the rear.
There would be four stables, a storage room, a tack room and a storage barn, with the rear frame sitting on a retaining wall.

Large barn doors and all the oak stable doors were manufactured in our workshops.

The frame had a canopy over the front, overlooking the wash-off square. All the rafters were oak and the frame was enhanced with a reclaimed stone roof. With plywood fitted to the internal stable walls to protect against any kicks from the horses, this equestrian building had every facility one could wish for, creating an ideal home for the family’s horses.

The end result is a well designed, regularly used, impressive oak framed building that sits well in its location, surrounded by grassland and countryside.
