Mr & Mrs Green
It’s great to see a property make the most of its beautiful location so when we were approached by Mr and Mrs Green to work with them on their new build project, we were keen to get involved.
Located on the edge of the Colne Valley this plot has picture postcard views which our client wanted to frame in a two storey truss to the front, supported with internal oak work in the roof and throughout the house.
We were initially presented with a standard king post truss design, which then we looked to improve aesthetically. The Paragon Oak design team got straight to work developing a sling braced truss with oak valley beams and ridge beam to run back into the house.
Following specification from our engineer on joint details and section sizes we were then able to manufacture this very large oak frame in our workshop. This frame was then transported to site disassembled. Our team constructed the frame flat on the ground ready for the crane to lift into place the next day. Consisting of 3.5 tonnes of green oak, the frame was lifted into place in one piece, braced, then fitted with the other oak elements during the next few days.
“When designing our new build we wanted to create an open space that featured a large oak truss and pearlings, to be the central focal point (and structure) of the house. We were advised to approach Paragon Oak by both our architect and timber merchant.
Paragon provided advice and assistance from the earliest stages of the project, which ensured that our concept could be turned into reality. As the project progressed, Paragon provided detailed design drawings in 3D which allowed us to visualise every element; reassuring with such a large and important project.
“The quality of work was top class and we are very happy with the finished product. We would recommend Paragon Oak to anyone and would jump at the chance to work with them again”.
